The Akisiom foundation supports small-scale
projects at schools, and gives
help to four individual children.
Our current projects include:
1. Refurbishing schools
Akisiom helps to complete and improve basic
facilities on a school in a very poor area in Kenya. In 2010 we have started
sponsoring the construction of a new dormitory for girls.

2. Educational materials

For two schools in Karamoja, the
Kalotom and the
Matany school, the
foundation provides basic educational materials such as exercise books, pencils
and pens. The foundation provides the schools with these materials every school
year (see picture on the right)
3. Beds and mattresses
Because children have to walk long distances to
school through a very unsafe environment, the foundation sponsors beds and
mattresses. In the summer of 2005, 60 beds and mattresses were delivered at
Matany school. At the end of 2007, 30 new beds and mattresses were
sponsored. The
foundation wants to continue ordering beds and mattresses until every child can
stay in the school overnight. At the moment, the school rooms serve as
classrooms during the day and dormitories at night. For the future, we would
like to collect enough money to build a separate dormitory.
4. Uniforms
By sponsoring uniforms, the foundations wants
to increase the number of pupils and limit the extent to which pupils drop out
of school. In October 2007, 500 beautiful yellow uniforms were sewn by a local
organization and handed over to the students. Click

event.
